March For Science
"Science, Not Silence"
"When the Last Tree Is Cut Down, the Last Fish Eaten, and the Last Stream Poisoned, You Will Realize That You Cannot Eat Money" -Cree Indian Prophecy
This Saturday (April 22), is Earth Day. I'd like to hope that for many of us, Earth Day is mindfully a part of our every day. But it is also nice to see that our society acknowledges this and has a day to celebrate our Mother Earth. This year, there will be a march held all over the world in protests to the environmental adversities and to voice the reality that science shows us.
"Science is a process, not a product -- a tool of discovery that allows us to constantly expand and revise our knowledge of the universe. In doing so, science serves the interests of all humans, not just those in power. We must protect the rights of every person to engage with, learn from, and help shape science, free from manipulation by special interests." -March for Science
With this carried awareness, I ask you to join us on Saturday to come together for our Mother - for us, for our future. And you don't have to be so familiar with science, or even like it. Because the core drive, the point of this gathering, is to support and acknowledge the efforts of the environmental movement that is on fire right now. With a President that denies climate change, with the head of our EPA (environmental protection agency) who has close ties with the fossil fuel industry, and world leaders who are hungrier for money than anything else.. this is a gathering to spread the continuous awareness of the importance of our oneness. We are the change we want to see!!
This will be in efforts to support the science community - to publicize scientific understandings, to learn and educate, and to spread awareness on how vital these ideas are to sustain our race, all living beings, and our Earth.
Mother Earth is calling to us, and we must respond and meet her with the same, unconditional love that she gives. We must realize that we are so, so out of tune with the flow of nature. And I recognize that in most places and today's society, it is impossible to be completely in-tune as nature has intended. We can, however, do everything in our power to be more aligned with the flow. Hopefully this moves on to become a collective effort, with a stronger will by our leaders. Our voices matter.
In a song by one of my favorites, SOJA, he sings "we're supposed to watch over this world, because we're the ones with all the tools and all the scars.. this race can't be endured if we don't know where to stop."
.. and so it is. We are slowly killing this world, slowly killing ourselves. We must realize that we are our only hope. As the Cree Prophecy explains - when the food is scarce, when there is no more water to drink, only then will we realize that we cannot eat money. Let's help all of our brothers and sisters to wake up to this. All for a one love.
I hope you will join in efforts of a cause greater than we can imagine. I'll be at March for Science Long Beach at Bixby Knolls. And let me know if you'll be going - let's connect!!
