My Journey with Energy Healing + Books & Sources
Intro to/from My Here & Now
I have been away from writing these past few weeks as I have been pouring my energy and time into self-development and careful practice of other rituals outside of my writing. Today I want to share with you what I have been indulging myself in; this is also something I am working to be able to share with you all in the next few months to come.
I have been focusing on a lot of my own healing and stepping into my ultimate calling of serving and helping others. It's an ongoing, never-ending process of self-growth and learning, but I have reached a point where I feel balanced and grounded enough to truly give and make this service my full-time "work".
What this service is, is offerings through energy & psychic healing. For some this sounds a bit esoteric and out there, but I have experienced the benefits and life-changing outcomes of such powerful, ancient practices of healing. I work specifically with reiki, but with my own twist and style, blending traditional techniques with bits of what I have learned through self-study and self-practice. Ultimately, whatever my intuition guides me to do.. So my “technique” is always morphing, always changing and evolving.
My Reiki Journey
I went through my first attunment (Reiki I) back in 2015 and had been practicing on and off since then. With Reiki I, the core is self-healing so my main focus had been developing the awareness and recognizing the channeling of energy. This year, in 2018, I had met a teacher in Ubud, Bali and moved into my second degree practice (Reiki II). ** Thank you Cat!!**
Just a few moments after my attunement, I felt as though my senses were heightened, feeling more connected and in-tune than ever. I am slowly starting to delve into other planes of consciousness, learning to communicate with energies and entities, and ultimately, connecting back to Self. And as mentioned before, it is and will forever be an ongoing practice of healing and growth, but I feel ready to slowly start sharing with all.
One thing I really want to emphasize with this form of healing is that I am not the one healing you.. It is important to know that you are healing you, yourself. I am simply a channel for the energy to flow through to welcome the healing. This Ki, or Source Energy, along with your Higher Self (whether you recognize it or not), are the ones who are doing the healing.
Another thing with energy healing in general is that: you do not need to go through attunements to channel energy. I believe that everyone has the innate power to access this energy. However, I guess that if you label it as Reiki, it is meaning through the lineage of a system (for me was Traditional Usui System) so there are attunements involved. I don’t mean to encourage the idea at all that everyone must undergo a certain initiation to connect or to channel. There are other practices such as magnetic energy healing, kiko, qigong, emotional freedom technique, etc.. They are all their own thing but in the end, they are all true, all love-based, and all healing!
So What is Reiki?
The act of laying hands on the human or animal body to comfort and relieve pain is as old as instinct. When experiencing pain, the first thing most people do is to put their hands on it. When a child falls and scrapes her knee, she wants her mother to touch it (or kiss it) and make it better. A mother's instinct when a child is feverish or ill directs her to place her hands on the baby's forehead. Human touch conveys warmth, serenity, and healing. It also conveys caring and love. This simple act is the basis for all touch healing techniques.
The living body, human or animal, radiates warmth and energy. This energy is the life force itself, and has many names as there are human civilizations. The Polynesian Hunas call this healing force Mana, and the Native American Iroquois call it Orenda. It is known as Prana in India, Ruach in Hebrew, Barraka in the Islamic countries, and Ch'i in China. In Japan the energy is termed Ki and it is from this word that Reiki is named.
excerpt by The International Center for Reiki Training
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. Reiki is not a cure for a disease or illness, but it may assist the body in creating an environment to facilitate healing. Reiki is a great tool to use as a complement to traditional medicine and is practiced in many hospitals and medical care settings.
excerpt from Mind Body Green
To administer Reiki, a practitioner channels life force energy through his or her hands unto another. It's said that the aforementioned spiritual guidance enables the Reiki to flow through the affected parts of the subject's energy field and charges them with positive energy. It raises awareness in and around the physical body where negative thoughts and feelings are contained. This causes the negative energy—such as stress, anxiety, physical pain, sadness, confusion, etc.—to loosen its grip, allowing the touch of the Reiki healer to swoop in and clarify the energy pathways.
Science of Energy Healing
I understand there are many skeptics out there who do not accept the healing offered by energy work. In no way will I force this upon anyone or preach that it is necessary for ultimate health. I respect everyone's timing and process of opening up to certain ideas and understandings.
With that being said, I would like to share some sources that may help in those who are still unsure but curious about this type of healing, or those who can believe it but want the scientific evidence beneath it all. There are recent (and older) studies that are showing the significant effects of Reiki and other energy healing techniques. Reiki is slowly being incorporated in hospitals here in the West as well, with Reiki practitioners being invited to work alongside doctors and surgeons.
Books on Energy Healing
This book, written by a well-known scientist with a background in biophysics and biology brings together evidence from a range of disciplines to provide an acceptable explanation for the energetic exchanges that take place in all therapies. It addresses a growing interest in the field of mind-body medicine and the role of natural "energy forces" within the body in maintaining normal health and wellbeing. This in turn has lead to interest in how these energies or forces may be channelled to assist in healing and the restoration of normal health.
I hope you find this insightful and interesting:)
I cannot wait to share more of my personal journey and bring this service to you all, coming soon <3
Thank you for you. Thank you for this space.
